Plan and organize troop meetings.
Planning a troop meeting is a key responsibility of the Patrol Leaders' Council (PLC). A well-planned meeting is engaging, productive, and fun for all Scouts. Here are the steps to planning a successful troop meeting:
The Senior Patrol Leader (SPL) leads the PLC, which includes all patrol leaders. The Scoutmaster and other adult leaders should be present to provide guidance.
The annual plan provides the long-term goals for the troop. Each troop meeting should be a step towards achieving these goals.
Use the "Program Features" tab to select a topic for the meeting. This could be anything from First Aid to Pioneering.
Use the Troop Meeting Planner form to outline the meeting. A typical meeting includes the following elements:
Once the plan is complete, submit it using the form linked below. This ensures all leaders are informed.
The first meeting of each month is the Green Bar Meeting. This is the monthly meeting of the Patrol Leaders' Council. At this meeting, the PLC plans the troop's meetings and activities for the upcoming month. The name "Green Bar" comes from the green bars on the patrol leader's patch of office.
Submit your troop meeting plan for review.
